1 Sponge Cake – Thin, flexible cake baked in a sheet pan so it can be rolled.

2 Filling – Whipped cream, buttercream, fruit preserves, ganache, or mascarpone.

3 Topping (optional) – Powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, or ganache.

🧁 Easy Vanilla Cake Roll Recipe

Ingredients (for sponge):

β€’ 4 large eggs (room temp)

β€’ ΒΎ cup granulated sugar

β€’ 1 tsp vanilla extract

β€’ ΒΎ cup all-purpose flour

β€’ Β½ tsp baking powder

β€’ ΒΌ tsp salt

β€’ Powdered sugar (for rolling)

Filling:

β€’ 1 cup heavy whipping cream

β€’ 2 tbsp powdered sugar

β€’ 1 tsp vanilla extract

β€’ Optional: sliced strawberries or jam

Instructions:

Β 1 Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.

2 Beat eggs in a large bowl until thick (about 3–5 min). Add sugar gradually, then vanilla.

3 Sift in dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) and fold gently.

4 Pour into pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden and springy.

5 Roll while warm: Dust a clean kitchen towel with powdered sugar. Invert cake onto the towel, peel off parchment, and gently roll it up with the towel. Let it cool rolled up.

6 Make filling: Whip cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

7 Unroll cake, spread filling, and re-roll (without towel). Chill 30 min before slicing.

β€’ Chocolate Roll – Add cocoa to the batter and use chocolate ganache filling.

β€’ Matcha Roll – Add matcha powder to the sponge and use red bean or cream filling.
